Semester 1 Reflection

Part 1:      The quality of my work has gotten better since the beginning of the year. I've better understood how to focus the image with my camera and utilize my surroundings. By using my surroundings and understanding that the background and lighting make a big impact, the picture quality and its composition is much improved compared to poor lighting and use of background. The quality of my actual subject matter has had its ups and downs throughout the year. I think I really did well selecting my subject matter for my blue project and especially my tryptic project, even though there was some controversy over the content of the tryptic project. For every assignment, I have fulfilled the assignment to the best of my abilities. I always take into consider the objective of the assignment and try to something different compared to the other assignments. When working on these projects I always check to make sure I have the proper format and resolution for all of my assignments. Compl

The viewpoint changes my interpretation of the image because now I see the complete image within its context which gives me a lot more background information. The change in viewpoint shows me that the man on the rope was a billboard worker/painter and the women is just a picture of a billboard. When I look at the image I see a young woman who is in a stargaze. The image and the colors used make her look very pale possibly even as if she were sick. When you look at her eyes there is something being reflected by her eyes but I am unable to make out what she is looking at, or what's looking at her. The size of the picture can effect the meaning because it makes the girl a greater symbol within ones life or in the community. With the picture being so big the artist may be trying to convey a very big idea to the community. Or the woman is someone very famous and well known throughout the community. By looking just at the image I am unable to tell if it is one contiguous image or if it

Response to Work by Gottfried Helnwein

The image is a man trying to climb a women's face. I am not certain what is going on but I think the man is trying to learn more and understand the woman in greater depth. Thus the reason why he is supposedly climbing the face of the woman, so he can learn about her in greater depths by the face of the woman. I think this is an artistic photoshopped image. I can determine this because someone cannot possibly climb the literal face of someone else. The artist most likely took the image of an actual climber and photoshopped it upon the face of the woman. The difference in the scale may represent how much the woman means to the climber. The aspect of the woman being quite larger than the man may mean that she has a great significance in the climber's life. So, my interpretation of this image is that the climber supposedly likes the girl and wants to learn more about her so he can perhaps impress her.
