What Art Response

Description

I see lots of brush strokes in both of the photos. Each of them both depict a woman who is not exactly happy nor sad. They both are kind of distressed or just kind of in the zone. Both women are portrayed in front of a red background. Both women are also painted as a light brown/ tan tone of skin color. The first image the woman is wearing a blue shirt with a matching color headband. The second image portrays the woman wearing no clothing.

Part 1

1. The mood of the image is gloomy, whimsical, and kind of tense. The expressions on the women's faces and the color choices help portray this mood. The expression on the women's faces are serious, distressed, and focused. Their posture is both relaxed or really tense and stiff.

2. I believe these images were painted using oil paint. I believe this because there are brush strokes in both images which indicate to me that they were most likely painted by a painter.

3. The color plays a big role in these pictures and the mood of images as well. The color choices definitely accentuates the mood. The red color brings out the serious and tense mood the images portray.

4. The artist intended to convey sadness, hopelessness, and possibly anger that many people have. The response he/she was attempting to evoke is agreement. I think the artist wants people to understand themselves and understand their feelings, to which they may be trying to hide or not admit they have. I think their efforts were successful.
